Please join us for a 1 hour webinar on School Community Mosquito IPM followed by a 20 minute Q&A session.
This presentation is geared to school facility managers, buildings and grounds managers and staff, childcare facility managers, and school IPM professionals. School nurses and school administrators are also welcome to attend.

Dr. Mike Merchant, Texas A&M Ag Life Extension Service, will open with Mosquitoes: disease vectors of concern, their biology, ID, species comparisons, stages of development and disease. Mr. Joseph Conlon, American Mosquito Control Association, will follow with School Mosquito Integrated Pest Management, Integrating Mosquito Management into your School IPM plan, and Pesticides for mosquito management: why or why not - a decision making rationale. He will also discuss local health department mosquito monitoring and surveillance – the first step in IPM. Dr. Marcia Anderson EPA Center of Expertise for School IPM, will continue by identifying preferred mosquito breeding and feeding habits. She will discuss habitat modification another component of IPM, source reduction, and sanitation and maintenance to prevent mosquito borne diseases. Common biological controls will also be introduced, especially for school rain gardens, cisterns and other water collection areas. Dr. Merchant will discuss additional mosquito IPM controls: including mechanical devices, larvicides, IGR’s, and community pesticide spraying. Comments about additional national research, resources, and a Q&A session will conclude the webinar.
